Lyrics
Tomorrow Me isn't me
He's just the guy who inherits the mess
He didn't leave the cup there
He didn't open the message
and decide to make it weird
He didn't invent the laundry chair,
or the pile of receipts by the door
slowly developing diplomatic immunity
He just wakes up inside it
Which is why I try not to judge him
He has my face,
my passwords,
my lower back,
and a suspicious number of tasks marked “later”
but morally speaking,
he is a victim
I am not procrastinating
I am transferring jurisdiction
Every night, around the time my phone asks
if I'd like to ruin tomorrow with one more video,
I review the case
and assign it to the next available version of me
Tomorrow Me is randomized
Fresh spawn
Unknown stats
Possible upgrade
Could be useless
Could be heroic
Could be the rare responsible variant
who drinks water before coffee,
answers a message before it becomes archaeology,
and sees a sink full of dishes
without calling it a hostile environment
The odds are unclear
But unclear is not zero
So I leave him the cup
The message
The laundry
The small shapeless guilt
currently sitting on the chair
wearing a hoodie
Not because I'm cruel
Because I believe in probability
One of these mornings,
the correct one will load
Morning loaded
Unfortunately,
it loaded me
I looked at the cup
The laundry
The message
slowly becoming historical evidence
The odds weren't unclear anymore
They were weighted
And I was the one
doing the weighting
Every dish I left behind,
every message I ignored,
every hour of sleep
I traded for nothing
lowered the drop rate
of the correct one
I wasn't waiting for a better me
I was nerfing him before he spawned
By then, the message had learned
to survive without me
So I wrote it down
“Improve drop rate by doing one thing today”
Saved
Reminder set for tomorrow
Anyway
One more roll
